This tree's distinctive aroma is closely associated with the holidays. But, you can use the essential oil to freshen your body and your home at any time of year!
Add a few drops to some carrier oil to add a fresh, woodsy aroma in a massage. Or, add a few drops in liquid soap to your bath -- or to your shower gel. Diffuse it anywhere in your home to create a calming, forest-like aroma.
For thousands of years, Native Americans used the Balsam Fir tree for a variety of wellness and medicinal purposes. They sometimes combined the tree's resin with grease to make a fragrant hair oil. Additionally, its needles were used to brew tea and even served as a source of food.
In Ayurveda, the traditional Hindu medicinal system, the tree's essential oil is considered sacred and is referred to as the forest healer. It's often utilized in Ayurvedic massage.

Directions
- Gather pinecones in the woods.
- Bake them at 200 F for 30 minutes, or until the cones have fully opened.
- Add one drop of Balsam Fir to each pinecone.
- Display in a decorate bowl.
Balsam Fir Body Scrub
This homemade body scrub not only helps exfoliate and rejuvenate your skin but also brings the delightful aroma of dÅTERRA Balsam Fir essential oil to your skincare routine, creating a spa-like experience at home.
Ingredients
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup Fractionated Coconut Oil
10 drops Balsam Fir
5 drops Lavender
Air-tight jar
Directions
Mix the sugar, Fractionated Coconut Oil and essential oils in a large bowl. The oil should be completely mixed in to the sugar; add more sugar if the mixture is too oily.
Carefully transfer the mixture into an air-tight container such as a mason jar.
To use, scoop out a small amount of the scrub with clean hands or a spoon. Gently massage it onto damp skin in a circular motion, paying attention to dry or rough areas. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
