Equilibrium

Have you ever felt discombobulated? This humorous word refers to a state of confusion, disorientation, or being thrown off balance. It's never fun to feel like you're being pulled in different directions by competing responsibilities, agendas, schedules, or interests, is it?

As always, one of the fastest ways to change your state of mind is to reach for your essential oils. Here are a few different oils that help you feel more grounded, balanced and able to move calmly through your day.

Balance
Balance is a much-loved grounding blend. A combination of Black Spruce, Ho Leaf, Frankincense, Blue Tansy, Blue Chamomile, and Osmanthus in a base of Fractionated Coconut Oil, this blend is one that many use every day to assist with feeling calm and grounded. I like to put it on the back of my neck, but you can apply it wherever you feel drawn to. Some like to put it on the bottoms of the feet, others in the crook of the elbow or even in the navel. It's a very mild blend that smells woody and wonderful. dōTERRA offers this blend in a 15 mL bottle as well as in a natural deodorant and in a soap format.

Vetiver
Vetiver is so deeply grounding that I jokingly call it "horse tranquilizer." This is an oil that is extremely thick and slow-moving, so it is helpful to dilute it in fractionated coconut oil or another carrier oil. Vetiver is distilled from the roots of a grass, and smells very earthy. It's a good oil to use when your thoughts are scattered and you find it hard to focus. It's also a good one to use as a calming aid when sleep eludes you.

I like to apply this oil to the feet -- specifically to the big toe, which in reflexology corresponds to the brain. Consider also using it on the thumbs or on the outer shell of the ear. A very little bit goes a long way. You can purchase this oil in a 15 mL bottle of pure Vetiver, or in a 10 mL roller bottle that is pre-diluted with Fractionated Coconut Oil.

Cedarwood
Some people call Cedarwood "poor man's Vetiver" because its properties are so similar to Vetiver. Use it when you need to feel calm and clear in your mind, or when you need help calming the mind for sleep. (Incidentally, it's also very good for the skin!)

Cedarwood is a pleasantly woodsy smelling oil, suitable for diffusing on its own, and mild enough to apply to the skin or make into a room spray or pillow spray. It combines well with oils like Bergamot, Jasmine, Frankincense and Patchouli.
