Essential Oils That Lift the Spirits

Now that Daylight Savings has ended, the sun is going down before 4:30 where I live, which seems positively criminal. Do you have difficulty keeping your spirits up when the days get dark? Here are 6 essential oils (although there are dozens of others!) that help banish the doom and gloom.

  • Bergamot is known for its ability to lift spirits and reduce feelings of stress. This is a wonderful oil to add to a diffuser on its own or in combination with other mood-enhancing oils.
  • Jasmine is my go-to essential oil for low mood. This oil comes in a roller bottle and is perfect to use as a "pure-fume" or personal scent... not to mention that it's doing some heavy lifting for you.
  • Melissa is famous for its anti-viral properties, and when you diffuse it, it's fantastic for easing anxious feelings and promoting a sense of calm.
  • Grapefruit increases energy, brightens mood and promotes feelings of self acceptance & joy. I love to use this oil in a diffuser blend with Douglas Fir and Frankincense.
  • Lemon boosts positive thinking and refreshes the mind. Use it in all the ways: cleaning sprays, room sprays, dishwater (it's great for cutting grease!) and even in your drinking water. Every time you smell it, you're getting a mood boost.
  • Wild Orange inspires creativity and a positive mood. This is my absolute favourite citrus oil. I love the taste, and I love to combine it with just about any other oil to diffuse and lift my spirits. It's like a smile in a bottle!
