Elevate Your Yoga Practice

Like yoga, essential oils have been used for thousands of years to help balance and assist the body, mind and spirit. Used together, these two well established modalities can take you to a whole new level of grounding, connection and enlightenment.

Enhancing the Atmosphere

Our sense of smell influences many physiological and psychological pathways. Certain essential oils, when diffused in the air, are very uplifting or stimulating, while others are calming and soothing. Beyond emotional benefits, diffusing essential oils can purify air of unwanted odors and some airborne pathogens.

A cold air diffuser is an essential and economical tool for using doTERRA oils in your yoga practice. Simply add a few drops of essential oil to some water, pour into the well of your diffuser, and run it during a yoga session. Choose the essential oil from your kit based on the results you desire:

  • For calming, grounding and focus: Balance or Lavender
  • For respiration: Easy Air or Lavender
  • For soreness, pain, and tension: Lavender, Balance or Lemongrass
  • For uplifting the mood: Wild Orange or Lemongrass

How to Use Your Samples

The Essential Oils for Yoga kit contains 5 samples. Get to know them by using them often! There are also several bonus product samples included in the kit: On Guard sanitizing wipe and toothpaste, as well as lozenges of On Guard and Easy Air.

You can apply any of the sample oils in your kit to the soles of your feet, to your wrists, to the back of your neck, lower back, or anywhere you feel drawn to. Simply tap a few drops into the palm of one hand and apply where desired. Or, rub hands together and cup over your nose and mouth to inhale. Take at least three deep breaths and allow the aroma to create positive change in your brain. Avoid touching your eyes when you have been handling essential oils. When adding to your diffuser, 4-5 regular size drops of dōTERRA essential oil will be plenty for a large room. Use less for a smaller room.

Drops from sample bottles are smaller than from a regular size bottle of essential oil. Three or four drops from a sample bottle are approximately equivalent to one drop from a regular size bottle. To get a drop out of the sample bottle, tap the bottom of the bottle sharply.

Balance (Grounding Blend)

In today’s busy, go-go-go world, it’s can be hard to find inner zen. That's why you do yoga, right? doTERRA’s Balance blend helps you on your journey to calm by evoking feelings of tranquility and, well, balance

Use this blend to ground yourself as you begin your yoga practice. Tap 3 drops into your hand from the sample bottle and apply to your feet, back of neck or base of spine. Repeat if needed (for example, if you want to use it in several places). Then, rub your hands together, cup them in front of your nose and mouth, and inhale deeply at least three times.

If you prefer, you can add a few drops of Balance to the diffuser in your yoga space instead, and diffuse throughout your session.

Wild Orange (Cleansing/Uplifting)

To smell Wild Orange is to love it, pure and simple! This beautiful citrus oil has a bright, uplifting aroma that will make you smile. You can diffuse it, apply it topically, and even drink this delicious oil.

A wonderful way to use Wild Orange is to add a drop to the drinking water in your glass or stainless steel water bottle. Your digestive system will love it, and you will enjoy the flavour and aroma with every sip you take.

Quick Tip: Try starting a morning practice by placing Wild Orange essential oil on your wrists. Inhale deeply. As you work though your sun salutations, you will be able to smell the energizing and uplifting aroma of Wild Orange with each pass of your arms.

Lemongrass (Cleansing/Uplifting)

If you’re practicing yoga first thing in the morning or feeling sluggish or drained of energy, lemongrass oil is the perfect essential oil to add to your practice. Add it to your diffuser, or use it topically on your wrists or on the bottoms of your feet.

Lemongrass essential oil is a purifying aroma that chases away negative energy. It's also an effective remedy for tight, sore muscles and tendons. Dilute with a carrier oil to use it topically in this way.

Quick Tip: Lemongrass oil is the perfect complement to early morning Sun Salutations, for an afternoon pick-up, or to counteract the blahs caused my gloomy days. In addition to adding an energy boost to your practice, lemongrass can help lift your mood and add extra focus to your asanas.

Easy Air (Respiration)

The beautiful blend called Easy Air is known as Breathe in the US market... no matter which country you live in or which warehouse you order from, the ingredients are exactly the same, the smell is the same, and the properties are the same.

Breathing is an important part of your yoga practice, and this blend clears the airways so you can breathe deeper and create the relaxation and focus that you need.

Quick Tip: Try rubbing Easy Air onto your chest and over lungs before you start your practice, to open airways, prepare your body for effective oxygenation and help you focus your practice on breathing.

You can also diffuse this blend in your yoga space for a beautiful, easy-breathing practice.

Your kit contains a sample of the oil blend, as well as a lozenge that helps to open up airways too.

Lavender (Calming & Soothing)

We call Lavender the “Swiss Army Knife of essential oils.” It is a calming essential oil, so it's ideal for use in your yoga practice. You can diffuse it, apply it topically, or breathe it in from your hands like the other oils above.

Lavender is also wonderful for supporting your emotions. Use Lavender when you feel defensive, lost, unheard, panicked, rejected, reluctant, shameful or unworthy; it will support you towards more positive emotions. Lavender also helps with verbal expression, helping to calm insecurities that might prevent one from speaking up. Lavender encourages emotional honesty, and helps to liberate us from a self-inflicted prison of fear.

On Guard (Protecting)

On Guard essential oil blend has an energizing aroma that is warm and spicy, with incredible uses and benefits. With powerful immune-supporting properties, doTERRA On Guard is well-known for its ability to protect against environmental and seasonal threats. This protective blend can be taken internally to support respiratory function and the body’s natural antioxidant defenses. It is also an effective non-toxic cleaning agent that can be used to clean skin and household surfaces. Diffusing On Guard helps cleanse and purify the air.

Your kit contains 3 On Guard products: a single-use On Guard Wipe, a sample of On Guard toothpaste, and a single On Guard lozenge (perfect for when you have a scratchy throat, or when you feel you may have been exposed to someone who is sick).
